Best US Black Friday 2018 deals: TVs, Consoles, Laptops, and more

Ah, ’tis the season again. The season of Christmas sales!

This year’s sale season begins on Black Friday (the Friday after Thanksgiving in the US) and extends to Cyber Monday (the Monday after Thanksgiving in the US), and it’s when companies and retailers offer deep discounts to encourage copiousamounts of holiday shopping.

So, check your bank accounts and figure out how many pay cheques you have left before Christmas, because we’ve rounded up a selection of the best tech-related deals that are worth your hard-earned cash. Some are week-long store sales, while others are early online previews, etc.

Amazon Black Friday deals

Amazon is offering early deals on its own devices, which you can see here. The best of the bunch are $60 off a Fire HD 10 and Show Mode Dock bundle and $60 off a Fire TV Cube 4K, though there are plenty of others worth checking out, and many of them will be going live on a rolling basis. For example, starting 18 November you can get $50 off the Fire HD 10. And on 22 November, you can get half off the Echo Dot (second-gen).

Other standouts include the Amazon Smart Plug for $5 with purchase of an Echo device, the Fire HD 8 and Show Mode Dock for $79.99 (was $109) and the Fire HD 10 and Show Mode Dock for $144.99 (was $190) – all starting 22 November).

Fire HD 8 and Show Mode Dock, $109: This is like an ultra cheap Echo Show, only it’s more portable because you can take the tablet on the go. It’s also not as unwieldy as a 10-incher. View bundle on Amazon.

Best Buy

Best Buy Black Friday deals

Best Buy will open at 5pm local time on Thanksgiving and stay open until 1am on 23 November. Doors will reopen at 8am on Black Friday. Select deals are already live now through 11 November. When it comes to all the online deals, prices are valid through 24 November.

The best deals we could find were the Microsoft Surface Pro 6 12.3-inch with keyboard for $600 (was $960), the Ring Doorbell 2 + Amazon Echo Dot third-gen for $140 (was $199), the Apple Watch Series 3 (32mm) for $229 (was $279), and the Ultimate Ears Megaboom for $100 (was $249).

Costco Black Friday deals

Costco will close its doors the night before Thanksgiving and reopen at 9am local time on Black Friday. Many of Costco’s deals will be available both in stores and online, while others will be exclusively online. Costco already previewed a slew of deals on its website, including $70 off an iPad 9.7. And thanks to BestBlackFriday, which published the retailer’s ad scans, you can get a more detailed to glimpse at what to expect.

For example, you can get Surface Pro 6 with Type Cover and Surface Pen for $800 (was $1,000), the Dell XPS 13 for $1,500 (was $2,000), the Google Home Mini (3 pack) for $70 (was $100), and the Bose On-Ear Wireless for $100 (was $160).

Google and Nest have announced several deals , with some sales starting as early as 18 November. The best deal we could find starts 18 November: the Google Pixelbook laptop for $300. After that, you can get the Nest Learning Thermostat for $129 (save $70) from 21 November, the Nest Cam Indoor for $129 (save $70) from 21 November, and Nest Protect for $99 (save $20) from 21 November.

We also saw you could get the Chromecast Ultra for $49 (save $20) and Chromecast Audio for $15 (save $20), both from 22 November.


HP US Black Friday deals

HP will offer a plethora of all-time lows on laptops to USB-C power banks, VR headsets, and more. The deals will start on 22 November. One of our favourites is the Spectre x350 Laptop 13t. Usually over $1,100, it’ll be $850 on Black Friday.


Jet US Black Friday deals

Jet is online only and will be holding a Black Friday sale starting 21 November at 10pm ET. We like the Bose QuietComfort 35 wireless headphones ll deal for $299 (was $350), as well as the Apple iPad 2018 with 32GB for $249 (was $330), the Bose SoundSport wireless headphones for $99 (was $149), and the Google Home Mini Chalk 2-pack for $50 (was $78). The Google Home Mini and Chromecast bundle for $45 is also good.


• Lenovo Black Friday deals 

Lenovo’s Black Friday sale will start at midnight on Thanksgiving and continue through 8pm local time on Black Friday. You can get 10 percent off site wide if you use the code BLACKFRIDAY10. That starts Black Friday. Other deals we liked were the ThinkPad T470s for 54% off, 45% off the Yoga X1 second-gen, 54% off of the X1 Carbon fifth-gen, 57% off of the IdeaPad 130s-11IGM, and $200 off the new Yoga C930 2-in-1.

Newegg US Black Friday deals

Newegg is online only. Some of its deals are live and are limited-time only, while others will start 20 November and on Black Friday itself. It recently also held a 24-hour early Black Friday sale, and now, it is offering early flash sales on everything from TVs to computers. Starting 20 November, for instance, you can get the Asus ROG Strix Scar laptop for $800 (was $900) and Acer Switch Alpha 12 for $520 (was $750).

Another great deal is the Nvidia Shield for $140 (was $180).

Office Depot Black Friday deals

Office Depot and OfficeMax will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, but it will do online sales from 12:01am ET Thanksgiving Day and in-store at 8am local time on Friday, Nov. 23. In terms of deals we really like the HP Pavilion 15.6-inch 2-in-1 laptop for $699 (was $1,100), as well as the Lenovo Flex 5 15.6-inch touchscreen laptop for $499 (was $799), and the Dell Inspiron 15.6-inch laptop for $319 (was $500).

Aside from Black Friday on 23 November, Samsung is holding a pre-Black Friday sale on 10 November. Two of the deals are particularly great for gamers. You can get a PlayStation 4 Slim 500GB for $229 ($40 off), or you can get an Xbox One S 1TB bundle that comes with three months of GamePass, three months of Xbox Live Gold, Call of Duty Black Ops 4, and Destiny 2 for just $300.

Sam’s Club is also planning a one-day-only for 10 November. You can get $50 off select models of Apple Watch, $150 off the 10.5-inch iPad Pro, $30 off Apple’s AirPods, and and $50 App Store and iTunes gift card pack for $42.98.

Staples US Club Black Friday deals

For Black Friday, most of the discounted prices should be available on Thanksgiving Day. You can get the Amazon Echo Dot for $24 (was $50), the HP Pavilion 14 for $360 (was $410), the Lenovo Flex 6 2-in-1 for $529 (was $629), and Google Home Hub for $99 (was $149).


Target Club Black Friday deals

The retailer’s doors open at 5pm on Thanksgiving and close that night at 1am. Then it will reopen on 23 November at 7am. Online prices are valid through 24 November. Its leaked Black Friday ad includes the 9.7-inch iPad for $249.99 – $80 down from Apple’s price. Target has also matched Dell with with a doorbuster special on an 11.6-inch HP Chromebook, too. It will be $80 off.

Other deals we like are the Beats Powerbeats3 Wireless Earphones for $90 (was $199), the Fitbit Versa for $150 (was $199), the TCL 55S405 55-inch 4K HDR Roku TV for $350 (was $449), the Amazon Fire TV Stick for $25 (was $39), and the Roku Streaming Stick for $30 (was $49).


Walmart Black Friday deals

The first Walmart holiday ad has arrived. Walmart’s also has a Early Access Pre-Black Friday sale, which includes the Fujifilm Instax Mini 7s Bundle for $55 ($16.94 off) and a Lenovo Tab E7 for $59 ($40.99 off). Walmart’s store event kicks off at 6pm local time on Thanksgiving, and the online deals start at 10pm ET on 21 November. Oneline prices are valid through 23 November.

The best deals we could find are the 65-inch TCL 65S4 4K Roku TV for $398 (was $598). 65-inch Sharp LC‑65Q7300U 4K Roku TV for $398 (was $498), Samsung Chromebook 3 for $99 (was $199), and RCA Cambio 2-in-1 for $89 (was $149).
